On May 26, 2009 there in the Centre of cultural programmes of the National library of the Republic of Kazakhstan took place the presentation of the book of Zhmerenetskaya Nina Leonidovna “The small red suitcase. The monologue of the actress about the life, creative activity and love” published by the “KazAkparat” publishing-house.

The authoress of the book is one of the leading actresses of the State Academic theatre of drama after M.Yu.Lermontov, the honoured artist of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The book is written in the genre of fascinating narration, telling readers about the interesting years in the life of the actress, her feelings and impressions.

Nina Leonidovna was born in Moldavia. Before coming to Almaty she worked in the four states – the theatres of Kishinev, Leningrad (Saint-Petersburg), Frunze (Bishkek). Kazakhstan became a really native place for her: she stayed here forever, once coming here in 1974.

The book begins from the childhood years of the actress which she spent in Moldavia with her grandfather and grandmother. She tells the readers that already when she was 14, she received her first actress certificate and then she narrates about the multiple roles she played – from Nina Zarechnaya in Chekhov’s “The seagull” to Joan of Arc in “The skylark” by Zh.Anois. Altogether N.L.Zhmerenetskaya played approximately 100 roles in the theatre, cinema and on TV. Undoubtedly of especial attention is to be her role in the first Kazakhstani TV project “The crossroads” consisting of 465 series which the multiple Kazakhstani audience loved so much.

There were included into the book also the stories “The guard”, “Without any name”, “He was in a black tuxedo and white slippers…”.
