On May 21, 2009 there at the National library of the RK took place the scientific conference by the theme “U.K.Djandosov and the peculiarities of the socio-cultural development of Kazakhstan between 1899 and 1937”, dedicated to the 110-th anniversary of the state figure of Kazakhstan, the first director of the National library of the RK U.K.Djandosov.

There in the conference participated the deputy akim of Almaty city S.T.Seidumanov, the Kazakh poet Olzhas Suleimenov, the members of the family of U.K.Djandosov, the scientist-historians of the scientific-research institutes of Astana and Almaty, of the higher-educational establishments, the library workers, students and readers. Director-General of the NLRK O.I.Issakhov delivered a word of greeting. There was announced the word of greeting from the Minister of culture and information of the RK M.A.Kul-Mukhammed.

The purpose of the conference is the summarization of the activity of U.K.Djandosov in the socio-political, cultural and scientific life of Kazakhstan, the evaluation of the contribution into the establishment and development of the National library of the RK. There at the conference were discussed the topical issues connected with the socio-enlightenment activity of U.K.Djandosov which found their reflection in the speeches made by A.B.Nauryzbayeva, G.R.Nyrumbetova, Kh.M.Abzhanova, A.T.Kapayeva, Z.Zh.Shaimardanova  etc.

There was organized an exhibition from the fonds of the NLRK, dedicated to the life and activity of U.K.Djandosov, and also presented the documents from the Archives of the President of the RK, the Central State Archives of the RK, the Central State Archives of the Almaty region. For the memorable date the National library of the RKprepared the CD-ROM “Byledi tugan khalky Zhandosovty 1899-1938”. The conference was widely covered by the mass-media.
