The National library of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the first time held the republican conference-exhibition by the theme “The problems of the fond of rare books and manuscripts”. The purpose of the conference is the perfecting of work in singling out, studying and interrelation presentation of the written heritage to the readers.

The participants of the republican conference-exhibition discussed the problems of the modern state of the fonds of rare books and manuscripts of the libraries of Kazakhstan, their replenishment, the issues of restoration, conservation, the provision of preservation and also the elucidation and studying of the written heritage of Kazakhstan, the creation of the single electronic archives of rare books and manuscripts with the use of modern information technologies.

There within the framework of the conference is presented the book exhibition numbering more than 400 documents of rare books and manuscripts from the fonds of the National library of the RK, the Republican book museum, the Scientific library of the Kazakh National University after Al-Farabi, the Almaty RUSL after S.Seifullin, the Akmola RUSL after M.Zhumabayev, the Atyrau RUSL after G.Slanov, the Eastern-Kazakhstani RUSL after Abai, the Zhambyl RUSL after Ch.Ualikhanov, the Western-Kazakhstani RUSL after Zh.Moldagaliyev, the Kyzyl-Orda RUSL after A.Tazhibayev, the Pavlodar RUSL after S.Toraigyrov, the Southern-Kazakhstani RUSL after A.S.Pushkin.

There participated in the conference-exhibition the librarians, the museum workers and scientists.
