Beginning 2001, the National  library of the RK, assisting to the popularization of the modern Kazakhstani book, participates in the traditional International book and polygraphical fair “By the Great Silk way” organized together with the Association of publisher and book distributors and libraries.

   Actively participating in the VI-th Kazakhstani international fair, The National library of the RK presented to the wide circle of participants and visitors an exhibition of its editions, published during the years of independence: these are the fundamental bibliographical indices: “Nursultan Nazarbayev – The First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan”, dedicated to the life and political activity of the President of the RK N.Nazarbayev; “The literary fiction of Kazakhstan”, reflecting the development of domestic literature between the years 1958-1967; “The history of Kazakhstan”, highlighting the literature on the problems of the history of Kazakhstan from the most ancient times to the beginning of the XX-th century, published after 1985; “The philosophical sciences of sovereign Kazakhstan”; “The ethnoses of Kazakhstan”; the indices dedicated to the prominent figures, poets and writers of Kazakhstan; the reference journals in the series “The public sciences” and “Culture. Art. Literature. Linguistics”; the professional journals “Kitapkhana”, “Ulttyk kitapkhana”; the Catalogues of manuscript Kazakh books in Arabic and Latin scripts, the Catalogue of manuscript books in the Persian language from the collection of the NLRK; the CD-ROMs “Astana – arman kala” dedicated to the development of the new capital; “The poetical year of Russia and Kazakhstan” dedicated to the great poets of Kazakhstan and Russia Abai and Pushkin and also other editions. The editions of the National library of the RK are the indispensable sources of information for readers.

   Also the National library of the RK held the readers’ panel jointly with the “Almatykitap” publishing-house by the theme “The history, everyday life and culture in the literature of independent Kazakhstan” dedicated to the 20-th anniversary of independence of the country with the participation of authors, directors of the regional libraries and a wide circle of readers.

    The workers of the National library of the RK within the framework of the fair participated in the meetings with the writers, akyns Zharken Bodeshuly, Dauletbek Baitursynuly, Sofy Smatayev and other activities.

    There within the framework of the fair the National library of the RK established  cl;ose links with the publishing houses of Russia. There to the fond of the library were donated the books of the Russian publishing houses – 180 copies, of the Kazakhstani publishing houses – 170 copies, altogether 350 copies of new scientific editions.

  The National library of the RK has been awarded by the diplomas of the 6-th Kazakhstani international book and polygraphical fair “For cooperation” and also in the nomination “Leader of the nation” for the retrospective bibliographical index “Nursultan Nazarbayev – the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan”.
