There on June 6 – 24, 2011 at the National library of the RK is held the workshop in restoration and binding of Oriental manuscripts and rare books. The workshop is organized with the support of the UNESCO Cluster Office.
The purpose of the given workshop is the acquisition of the practical skills in restoration and binding of Oriental manuscripts and rare books, the heightening of the restorers’ professional qualification. The workshop is held by Thierry Aubrie, the restorer of graphic documents, an expert in restoration of the Department of conservation of the National Library of France.
Thierry Aubrie has great work experience in carrying out study programmes, preparation of specialists in conservation and restoration of cultural heritage, research work in the use of leather and Japanese paper for the conservation of books, the processes of paper de-acidification and also in the study of the market of restoration materials and equipment.
The workshop is directed upon mastering the modern technologies for the inculcation into the practice of activity of the republican establishments of culture. There in the workshop will participate the specialists of the NLRK, the Regional universal scientific libraries, the Central state museum of the RK and the Central state archives of the RK.
