There in the Department of foreign literature has been prolonged till the end of 2012 the book-illustrative exhibition “The Patriotic war of 1812. The battle of Borodino” timed to the 200-th anniversary from the day of the beginning of the war.
The battle of Borodino - the biggest battle of the Patriotic war of 1812 between the Russian and French armies took place on September 7, 1812 near the village of Borodino 125 km west of Moscow.
Napoleon didn’t manage to do the main thing – destroy the Russian army. Kutuzov started “a lesser war” by army gorilla troops. By the end of December the remnants of Napoleon’s army were driven out of Russia.
The battle of Borodino is one of the most bloody battles of the XIX-th century. There at the exhibition is presented the literature of the XIX-XX centuries about the history, the course of military actions and the historical personalities of the battle of Borodino in the Russian, French and English languages.
