There in the department “Kazakhstan kitaptary” is organized the book exhibition dedicated to the 80-th birthday of the honored figure of culture of kazakhstan, people’s writer Sherkhan Murtaza.

   Sherkhan Murtaza was born on September 28, 1932 in the Zhambyl region. In 1955 he graduated from the Moscow state university after M.V.Lomonosov. he began his labour activity in 1955 as the literary worker of the newspaper “Leninshyl Zhas” (today “Zhas Alash”). In 1960-1963 he worked as correspondent, literary worker and editor of the newspaper “Socialistyk Kazakstan” (today “Egemen Kazakstan”), in 1970-1972 – chief editor of the almanach “Zhalyn”, In 1972-1975 – chief editor of the magazine “Zhuldyz”, in 1975-1980 second secretary of the board of the Writers’ union of Kazakhstan, in 1980-1989 – chief editor of the newspaper “Kazak adebiety”, in 1989-1990 – chief editor of the newspaper “Socialistyk Kazakstan” (today “Egemen Kazakstan”), from 1992 to 1994 – chairman of the State TV-radio-company “Kazakstan”. In 1995-1999 he was at creative work, was a member of the editorial collegiate of the newspaper “Egemen Kazakstan”. In different years was elected deputy of the Supreme Soviet and deputy of the Majilis of the Parliament of the RK.

   Sh. Murtaza is the people’s writer of Kazakhstan, honored figure of culture of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, honored citizen of the Jambyl region, the cities of Taraz and Astana.

   He was awarded by the orders: “Otan” of the Republic of Kazakhstan and “Badge of Honour” of the USSR, with medals, honorary certificates of the Supreme Soviet of the Kazakh SSR. He is the winner of the State prize of the KazSSR.
