There on February 8, 2012 in the exhibition hall of the National library of the RK took place the seminar-presentation of the licenses Creative Commons, organized by the public foundation “WikiBilim” in the sphere of Kazakhstani institutes of education, science and creativity.

The moderator was the head of the public foundation “WikiBilim” Rauan Kenzhekhanuly. There at the seminar spoke: N.Uali, A.Bopezhanova, O.Sabden and others.

“Creative Commons” (CC) is the international movement which elaborates, organizes and supports the legal and also the technical infrastructure that permits to legally widespread and create creative works in digital form, develop free exchange of information in the Internet.

“Creative Commons” is a complement of universal licenses with the help of which authors and rights-holders get the possibility to freely widespread their works, and the users of the content can use these works, not being afraid to breach copyright.

Its purpose is in the augmentation of the number of works (fiction, scientific etc.) accessible for the legal free widespreading and use. In 2002 the organization created and published for charge-free use several licenses, with the help of which authors can flexibly manage their copyright known as the licenses “Creative Commons”. These licenses allow authors to inform which of the rights they are ready to refuse from for the sake of society, and which of the rights they keep after themselves.

There on the basis of the licenses “Creative Commons” work such Internet-resources like the sites of the presidents of the USA, Mexico, Russia, the sites of a number of universities of the world (the Massachusette technological university), the site of the TV-channel Al-Jazeera, the encyclopaedia Wikipedia, the cartographic portal Wikimapia, the online photo-gallery Flickr and also the video-service YouTube. As for today, by the most modest estimates, through different licenses of Creative Commons there were published more than 580 million works, 40 percent of which became public property.

The project of popularization of CC licenses in Kazakhstan is implemented under the patronage of Prime-minister of Kazakhstan K.K.Masimov. The prime-minister approved the plan of activities that foresee the joint work of the Ministries of culture and information and education and science, and also the Ministries of justice for the implementation of the project.

There have been signed author agreements under CC licenses with more than 20 classics (authors and heirs) of Kazakh literature. Among them are Mukhtar Auezov, Bauyrzhan Momyshuly, Mukagali Makatayev, Kasym Amanzholov, Zhuban Moldagaliyev, Kalizhan Bekhozhin, Iliyas Zhansugurov, Gabiden Mustafin, Mukhtar Shakhanov, Abish Kekilbayev, Fariza Ongarsynova and others.
