    There in “Kazakstan kitaptary” department is organized the book exhibition dedicated to the 80-th birthday of the Kazakh poet, literary-study specialist  Nurkhan Zhanayev.

     Nurkhan Zhanayev was born in 1933 in the Terenozeksk district of the Kyzylorda region. In 1955 he graduated from the faculty of philology of the Kyzylorda pedagogical institute. N.Zhanayev started working as a teacher at school in the Terenozeksk, Yanykorgansk districts, after that he was preoccupied with journalistic activity. He worked as correspondent at the regional radio, as a worker of the district newspaper “Enbek maidany”. In 1958 he moved to Almaty and continued the creative activity.

    N.Zhanayev worked as chief editor in the republican newspaper “Kazakstan pionery” (today “Ulan”) and at the “Mektep” publishing house, as the editor of the literary editorial board of the republican TV-radio-committee, as editor of “Zhalyn” publishing house, as the methodologist at the republican House of popular creativity.

    The primary type of creative activity of N.Zhanayev is the verses for children. In 1963 there was published his first collection of verses “Zhau, zhau, zhanbyr”, after that the books of verses “Kustar ushyp keledi” (1967), “Zhanymnyn zhazirasy” (1972), “Anshi torgai” (1974), “Nazkonyr” (1976), “Nurly aspan” and others.

    The verses of the poet teach children to love the native land, reveal the beauty not only that of nature but of the creative work of the people, and also of such human qualities like kindness, care, diligence. Written with humour and a kind smile, they are easily remembered and understandable to the modern readers-compatriots. He translated into Kazakh the verses of the Russian poetess Z.Alexandrova, the Moldavian poet I.Georgitse and others.

    A collection of verses of the poet entered the series “Syrdariya kitapkhanasy” published within the framework of the “Cultural heritage” state programme, into which there entered the works of the well-known figures of Kazakh literature and culture, beginning from Korkyt to the modern times.

    There at the book exhibition are presented the materials about the ;life and creaqtive activity of the poet and his works: “Nazkonyr” (1976), “Sybdyrlaidy zhapyrak” (1980), “Nurly aspan” 1977), “Rain, rain, fall!” (1986), “Omir ornektery” (1990), “Kuanyshty kyun” (1984), “Nazkonyr” (2009) and others.
