   There in the department “Kazakstan kitaptary” is organized the book exhibition “Shyn sher, shyn kubylys” dedicated to the 80-th anniversary  of the Kazakh writer Nurmanov Akan.

   Nurmanov Akan (1933-1968) was born in 1933 in the village of Aksu of the Almaty region. In 1957 he graduated from the faculty of philology of the Kazakh state university after Kirov.

   In 1957-1964 he worked as a literary worker in the Amangeldinsk district newspaper “Socialistyk sharua”, the regional newspaper “Kommunizm tany” of the Kostanai region, the republican newspaper “Leninshyl zhas” (today “Zhas Alash”). In 1964-1968 – head of department of “Zhuldyz” magazine.

   In 1964 there saw the light the first collection of short novels of the writer named “Iraily tan” narrating about the life and everyday existence of the village residents, about the work of the youth in the village. After a year the readers became acquainted with the short novel of A.Nurmanov “Akku zhuldyzy” (1965). The book narrates about the hard life of the shepherds, about good and evil, about human interrelations. In the 1960-s a number of works of A.Nurmanov were published in the periodical press in the magazines “Prostor” and “Zhuldyz”.

   The greatest work in the creative activity of A.Nurmanov was the novel “Kulannyn azhaly”. The novel transfers the reader to the beginning of the XX-th century, narrates about how difficult was the way into the new life for ordinary people after the establishment of Soviet power in the Turgai steppe. The main hero of the novel Kulan is an honest, courageous  and manly person who fought bravely in the detachment of legendary Amangeldy. Being popular among the Kazakhstani readers this novel after the demise of the writer was published anew in different years and translated into Russian, Arabic and other languages.

   There at the book exhibition are presented the materials about the life and activity of Akan Nurmanov, and also his works: “Araily tan” (1964), “Akku zhuldyzy” (1965), “Kulannyn azhaly” (1969, 1977, 1987), “Kulan’s death” (1977) and others.
