On September 23, 2013 there in Baku city took place the official meeting of the President of Azerbaijan Ilkham Aliyev and the Minister of culture and tourism of Azerbaijan Abulfas Garayev with the president of the Conference of European national libraries, Director-General of the National library of France Bruno Racine, vice-president of the National Assembly of Eurasia, Director-General of the National library of the Republic of Kazakhstan Gulissa Balabekova and the director of the National library of Azerbaijan Kerim Takhirov.

     The meeting took place within the framework of the celebration of the 90-th anniversary of the National library of Azerbaijan, the Conference of European national libraries and the XV-th General meeting of the LAE members.
   There at the meeting the President of Azerbaijan underlined the significance of carrying out these activities in Azerbaijan and noted the importance of participation of representatives of different countries of the world. The head of the state expressed his confidence in that the issues discussed at the conference will contribute to the widening of international cooperation in the development of librarianship.
   There within the framework of carrying out the jubilee activities took place the official ceremony of opening of the department of rare books and the museum of the National library of Azerbaijan after M.F.Akhundov and the opening of the 3-rd Baku International book exhibition-fair. There at the exhibition were presented the professionals of librarianship from 15 countries. By the results of the exhibition all the books were donated to the National library of Azerbaijan.
   There at the plenary meeting of the LAE members was discussed the perspective plan of development of the activity the Assembly till 2015 which includes five global items. This is the work for the filling of the Eurasian library named “The golden collection of Eurasia”, the plan of implementation of the information-library space on the basis of the frontier-libraries of the countries-participants of the CIS. The active work by the project “The cupolas of the Commonwealth” and perfection of the legal base of the humanitarian cooperation of the states-participants of the Commonwealth in the International foundation of humanitarian cooperation and the work by the project of the Agreement on the creation of favorable conditions for the mutual exchange of print production (the international book exchange and inter-library loan). There at the meeting was also discussed the activity of the LAE for the year 2013, there was presented the financial report, there were approved the membership and entrance fees, there were analyzed the materials of “The LAE Herald” and the place and time for the carrying out of the XVI-th General meeting of the LAE in 2014.
