There in the Exhibitions hall within the framework of the interstate programme “The cultural capitals of the Commonwealth” is organized the book-illustrative exhibition “Almaty 2014 – the cultural capital of the countries of the Commonwealth”.

  The interstate programme “The cultural capitals of the Commonwealth” was approved by the council of heads of states of the CIS in 2012 for the purposes of further development of cultural coperation and dialogue between the wonderful cultures of the peoples of the Commonwealth.
  In October, 2013 there by the council of heads of states of the CIS in Minsk city was approved the decision that in 2014 Almaty would become the cultural capital of the CIS. 
   The interstate programme “The cultural capitals of the Commonwealth” is supposed to make the annual concentration of creative resources of the states of the Commonwealth in the non-capital cities of the states-participants of the CIS which received the status of “The cultural capital of the Commonwealth” and the creation onh this basis of the bright, rich and varied palette of cultural and humanitarian activities. It will activate the cultural life of the cities and at the same time gives the possibility to acquaint the public withy the achivements, the best which is happening at the post-Soviet space in the cultural sphere. The project is aimed also at the creation of the favorable conditions for economic cooperation, the improvement of the status of the Commonwealth at the international arena. For a long time already Almaty has strongly asserted itself as being cultural capital of Kazakhstan but it is the first time that it has become the main cultural centre of the CIS.
   The year “Almaty – the cultural capital of the Commonwealth” provides huge opportunities for the exchange of experience, determination of trends and main tendencies of development of modern culture and is also conducive to the greater strengt6hening of the interstate relations.

   There at the exhibition will be presented the encyclopaedic and refernce editions, literature on the history of Almaty city, about the cultural centres and sight-seeing places of the city.
