From October 8 to 12, 2014 there in Frankfurt took place the annual world book fair “Frankfurter Buchmesse 2014”. There in the work of the fair participated Director-General of the National library of the Republic of Kazakhstan Askar Alibek Asylbayevich.

   The Frankfurt book fair is the place where there meet multiple publishers, writers, librarians, book sellers, film producers, editors, translators, literary people, illustrators and many other specialists.
   The book fair this year gathered together approximately 300 guests and approximately one thousand authors from different corners of the planet. There at the fair there presented their novelties about seven thousand exponents from approximetaly 100 countries. There into
the programme of the forum were included 3,5 thousand activities – presentations, literary readings, meetings with poets and writers, discussions, concerts.
   The honorary guest this year was Finland. There at the solemn opening ceremony were present the president of Finland Sauli Niinisto and the minister of foreign affairs of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
   There to the visitors of the fair was presented the new fourth volume of the Anthology of modern literature of independent Kazakhstan “The way is long but the step is firm” published by the publishing house “Khudozhestvennaya literatura”. There in the anthology are collected the best works of the Kazakhstani authors.
   There within the framework of the holiday activities took place the presentation of the unique 100-volume publication of the code of Kazakh folklore “Babalar sozi”. There in the code are presented the works large in volume as well as the lesser ones – including the eposes, dastans, legends and children’s fairy-tales, popular legends, proverbs and sayings and many other things. The publication was published by the publishing house “Foliant” in Astana city together with the Institute of literature and art after M.Auezov. The specialists of the institute systematized a huge amount of manuscripts and materials which entered the collection and were gathered during the course of many years, written down in the Old-Arabic and New-Arabic scripts, the Latin alphabet, and the publishing house presented the high-quality polygraphic multi-volume edition, also embelished in the best possible way.
   There in the solemn activities participated the writers, scientists, representatives of creative intelligentsia, representatives of the state and public organizations of Kazakhstan, Germany, Turkey, countries of the CIS and all the visitors and guests of the Frankfurt book fair.
