There in the Exhibitions’ hall is organized the book exhibition “Taukymet pen tagzym” dedicated to May 31 – The memory day of the victims of political repressions.

   For Kazakhstan as well as for most of the countries of the former Soviet Union the years of repressions will remain for a long time in the memory of the people as thousands of people who became the victims.
As a result of the cruel policy for the detection of “enemies of the people” there were broken the fates of millions of people, the children were left without their fathers and mothers.
The whole peoples were subject to cruel repressions: in accordance with the class, social, national, religious and other signs.
   The territory of Kazakhstan became the place of mass deportation for the Soviet citizens.
There were carried out the violent emigrations of the thnoses: for the Koreans, Germans, Poles, Grecians, Turks, Chechens, Tartars, Kalmyks and others.In 1931 there were created the Karaganda reformatory-labour camp – KARLAG and the Akmola reformatory-labour camp for the wives of the traitors of Motherland – ALZHIR.There were punished the wives, sisters and mothers of the repressed people.
   One of the first laws adopted in sovereign Kazakhstan, became the Law dated April 14, 1993 “On the rehabilitation of the victims of the mass political repressions”.
   Beginning from 1997 there by the Decree of the President of the RK N.Nazarbayev the Day of memory of the victims of the political repressions is marked on May 31.
On this day there are carried out activities dedicated to the memory of the people who perished or suffered during the political repressions: the laying of flowers to the monuments for the repressed people, the photo exhibitions, the demosntration of the documentary films at the cinemas, the carrying out of “the lessons of memory” at the stusy establishments and other activities.
