On August 14, 2015 there began its work the World library-informational congress: The 81 IFLA General Сonference which took place this year in Capetown (South Africa).
   The general theme of the conference - “Dynanic libraries: access, development and transformation” demonstrates an optimistic view upon the prospects of development of modern libraries on the bsis of the use of modern technologies and other library innovations. There in the work of the Conference participated Director-General of the National library of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Askar Alibek. On August 15 on the eve of the opening of the Congress there took place the Meeting of the delegates from the CIS countries. There at the solemn ceremony of the opening of the Congress IFLA President Sinikka Sipila noted that the theme of the conference “Dynamic libraries: access, development and transformation” has a critical significance for the strengthening of democracy on the continent where the libraries must work to gether with the civil society in order to show their role in the lessening of poverty, illiteracy, unemployment and lack of infornation, especially in the sphere of development in the early childhood the services for the youth, women’s health and the local economic development”.
   The theme of the conference is closely linked with my Presidential theme “Strong libraries – strong societies”. There on the territory of the Congress-centre worked the exhibition on which there were presented the stands of the National libraries of Malasia, Qatar, South Africa and also presented a wide range of international and national commercial organizations. During the conference there were held the working meetings of the heads of the head-quarters of IFLA on which there were discussed the issues of cooperation and interaction between the libraries of different countries.

During the closing of the session President Sinikka Sipila officially announced the place for the holding of the World library-informational congress in 2017 - in Wroclaw (Poland).

   The next World library-informational congress of IFLA: the 82-nd IFLA General Conference will take place in August 13-19, 2016 in the city of Columbus, state of Ohio (USA).
