There in the Exhibitions’ hall within the framework of the 25-th anniversary of independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan is organized the wide-scale book-illustrative exhibition named “Astana – Kazakstan tauyelsizdygynyn simvoly”, dedicated to the Day of Astana.

   There at the exhibition for the reader’s attention is presented the literature about the history, the past, the present and the future of Astana, about the economic, cultural and social aspects in the development of Astana etc.
   In 1997 President of sovereign Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev proposed to transfer the capital of the country from Almaty to Akmola. This decision was dictated  by the important geopolitical situation of the city – in the centre of Kazakhstan and the Eurasian continent, the availability of the necessary transportation and communication infrastructure. In 1998 the leadership of the country made the decision to rename the new capital into “Astana”. With the attributing to the city of the capital functions there opened a new stage in its development.
   During the 19 years Astana became a prospering city with the developed infrastructure and the centre of cultural, political and social life. The modern capital of Kazakhstan is growing and changing, is becoming more attractive for the residents of Kazakhstan and the foreign guests. The architectural style, in which there are intertwined the nest traditions of European and Oriental culture, most fully reflect the image of the new capital as the centre of the economy, politics and culture. The attribution to the city of Astana of the status of the capital opened before it the grandiose prospects of growth and development. During the time elapsed there took place the notable changes not only in the outward appearance of the city, but also in the sphere of production, construction, culture, social protection of the population. The transfer of the capital to Astana city led to the rapid growth of the population of the city.
   Astana became the pride of new Kazakhstan, the symbol of assertion of the national idea and the unification of the country. The future of Kazakhstan is inseparably linked with the future of Astana. Today it is the inseparable part of the new image of Kazakhstan.
