There in the reading hall of the Arts’ department is organized the book exhibition “Keskindeme onerinyn sheberi” dedicated to the 90-th birthday of the artiste-painter, people’s artiste of the Kazakh SSR K.Telzhanov (1927-2013).

   Kanapiya Telzhanov was born on May 1, 1937 in the Omsk region. He is one of the founders of the monumental painting art, a pedagogue, public figure, people’s artiste of the Kazakh SSR (1963) and the USSR (1978), corresponding member of the Academy of sciences of Kazakhstan (1994) and the Artistic acamemy of the USSR (1967), Honorary academician of the International Academy of sciences of the higher school (1995).
   In 1937 he was accepted into the school of young talents of the Artistic academy of the USSR. In 1947 he finished the Almaty artistic school, in 1953 – the faculty of painting of the Leningrad (now Saint-Petersburg) institute of painting, sculpure and architecture after I.E.Repin (the studio of M.I.Avilov), in 1953-1958 he is the teacher at the Almaty theatrical-artistic school. In 1964-1968 he is the chairman of the board of the Painters’ Union of the Kazakh SSR, secretary and member of the board of the Painters’ Union of the USSR (1964-1986). For the creative activity of the painter there is characteristic the evolution from small poetical scenes of the Kazakh everyday life to the monumental paintingsof the summarized-symbolical meaning by the historical and modern themes: “Amangeldy Imanov” (1953), “For the first time” (1954), “Rising generation”, “Zhamal”, “Grandmother Amina”, “The sounds of the dombra” (1955), “On the land of grandfathers”, “Kazakhstan in 1918” (1958), “In the sunny land”, “Kokpar” (1960), “The peaceful lights” (1961), “Lenin’s behest”, “The shepards” (1962), “Silence” (1964), “Hunting with the golden eagle” (1965), “The advice”, “Kyz-kuu” (1966), the tryptichs “The beginning” (1967), “October”, “The flow”, “The spark”, “The first singer” (1970), “The happy people”, “The people of Boz-Aral” (1970). In 1961 K.T.Telzhanov entered the CPSU, in 1965-1968 he was chairman of the board of the Painters’ Union of the Kazakh SSR. He was elected member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Kazakhstan, was deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the Kazakh SSR. The paintings of K.Telzhanov are kept in the museums of Kazakhstan, Russia (the Tretyakov gallery, Moscow) and in the fonds of private galleries of foreign countries (the USA, China, Japan etc.). He was awarded with the Honorary Diploma of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR (1978), the Honorary Diplomas of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Kazakh SSR (1961, 1963, 1967, 1977, 1987), the Honorary Diplomas of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Tartar ASSR (1962),the Honorary Diploma of the Presidium of the All-Union Central Soviet of Professional Unions (1968). He is the winner of “Tarlan” prize (2005). He was awarded with the orders “Badge of Honour” (1959), “The Labour Red Banner” (1970), “Parasat” (1998), “Otan” (2005) and with medals.

   There at the book exhibition are presented the materials about the life and creative activity of the Kazakh artist-painter K.Telzhanov from the fond of the book and periodical editions of National library of the RK.
