The National library of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Aktobe department of culture carried out on October 4-5, 2006 in Aktobe city, the Library capital of Kazakhstan of 2006, the republican conference “Reading as the national priority of Kazakhstan”.
  The programme included the plenary session, the creative literary-poetical evening of Olzhas Suleimenov, the literary-cognitive competition for the best knowledge of Kazakh literature, the seminar “Non fiction – literature of the XXI century”, the presentation of the book by V.O.Skitnevski “The history of reading in Kazakhstan”, the training “Critical reading: instrument for understanding”, sections etc. There took place the meeting with B.Ryakhovski, the author of the book “The adolescent years of architect Ivan Naidenov”, the demonstration of the film “The alien white woman and the pock-marked man” shot by film director Sergei Soloviev by the tale of B. Ryakhovski.
  There at the session took place the discussion of the project of the programme “Reading Kazakhstan”, elaborated by the National library of the RK.
