The National library of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the US Embassy in the RK and Chevron Company announce the opening of the American Cultural Center on the basis of the Hall of informational resources on oil and gas, which was working in the Library from 2003.

       The purpose of the given project is to provide readers with full and varied information about American culture: these are books, periodical editions, video- and audio-materials, electronic editions, TV, Internet, data-bases on Americanistica, posters and also lectures, meetings with figures of culture from the USA, presentations, trainings etc etc.

      For the National library of the RK of great importance is the professional trend which was supported full-heart by the American partners, the trend including the exchange of specialists, participation of the NLRK in American library projects etc.

        The history of cooperation of the National library of the RK with different organizations, establishments and departments of the United States of America is interesting, fruitful and progressive. For many decades the National library had book exchange and interlibrary loan with the leading libraries of America, jointly with the US Embassy in the RK there were held exhibitions of books, seminars, trainings, probations of workers of the NL in American libraries.

       The National library of the RK has the richest fonds in more than 50 languages of the world. The English-lingual literature numbers more than 100 thousand copies in all branches of science. The fonds of the American Cultural Center will be for the finicky reader a new source of topical, multifaceted and multi-aspect information.
