24.06.2008 The “Preservation and conservation”/ PAC IFLA (the International Federation of Library associations) Core programme is aimed at the following:

The library materials, published and unpublished, on all types of carriers are to be preserved in accessible form as long as possible;

There is to be raised awareness on issues of preservation among:
- the national authorities responsible for the heritage collections,
- the library managers, workers and users,
- all professionals involved into the development and production of traditional and modern library informational carriers,

The information on preservation and conservation is to be wide-spread and made accessible in different languages;

There are to be found solutions for the problems pertaining to the physical deterioration of library and informational materials;
-
There must be further developed the national and international standards pertaining to the production, preservation and processing of library materials;
-
The departmental, national and international initiatives in preservation are to be promoted and made possible world-wide;
-
The activity pertaining to the studies and informational dealing on preservation and conservation is to be developed, initiated and encouraged. |
