01.10.2008 – The National library of the Republic of Kazakhstan together with the Institute of cultural policy and art studies carried out the cultural study forum “The dombra – the unique phenomenon of world culture” (the nomination of dombra as the world cultural heritage). There within the framework of the forum took place the presentation of the book by Zh.Nazhmedenov “The heart-felt sound of the dombra. The millennial history”.

            The living testimony of the formation and development of the musical culture of the Kazakh people are the musical instruments that have reached us and that have a millennial history. Today this is the most popular musical instrument of Kazakhstan and it requires more attention and a more dignified presentation at the international level as the unique phenomenon in the world musical culture. The dombra must occupy its honorable place in the annals of history of culture not only of Kazakhstan but the whole mankind.

            The main task of the Forum is: the making of the brand of Kazakh culture that corresponds to the world standards; the realization of the eternal value of the dombra for the peoples of Eurasia as the instrument that brought the history, culture of the ancient nomads to the contemporary generations; the elaboration of the normative-legal basics for the inclusion of the dombra into the list of world cultural heritage.

            There within the framework of the Forum was organized the book-illustrative exhibition “Konyr undi dombyra” out of the fonds of the National library of the RK.
