26.09.2008 The National library of the Republic of Kazakhstan carried out the action “One country – one book”. On this day there at the library took place the wide discussion of the short novel of the classic of Kazakh literature Mukhtar Omarkhanovich Auezov “The hard times”.

     There in the discussion participated writers, poets, librarians, readers of the library, the son of the writer, the prominent public figure, culturologist Murat Mukhtarovich Auezov.

     The action “One country – one book” in Kazakhstan began with the reading of “The words of wisdom” by the great Abai. There for the action of 2008 the short novel by .O.Auezov was chosen not incidentally, because there for the participation in the action are considered the books that reflect the all-human and national ideas of humanism, the historical-cultural traditions, the historical roots and modern development of the country which stimulate discussions.

     There within the framework of the Action is organized the book-illustrative exhibition “Kiyly zaman tagdyry”, in which there is shown the first edition of the “Kiyly zaman” short novel written in Arabic script and published in 1928 in Kzyl-Orda city.
