The National library of the Republic of Kazakhstan in January, 2009 installed for the attention of its readers the book exhibition named “Muryn-Zhyrau”, dedicated to the 150-th anniversary of the well-known narrator of songs Muryn Sengyrbekuly (1860-1954). Muryn Sengyrbekuly on achieving the age of 18, became the well-known professional singer-narrator of “The songs about the forty Crimean heroes”. Performing these songs for many years, he traveled across the former Bukhar and Khivin Emirates and met people inhabiting the territory between the Amu and Syr-Darya, the southern shore of the Caspian and Black seas. When he reached the age of maturity, Sengirbekuly won for himself the honorable title Muryn-Zhyrau.
