There at the National library of the Republic of Kazakhstan in honor of the Independence Day was organized an extensive exhibition named “Egemen Kazakstan – the mirror of the country”, dedicated to the 90-th anniversary of the newspaper “Egemen Kazakstan”. The opening of the exhibition took place on December 15, 2009.

The exhibition “Egemen Kazakstan – the mirror of the country” consists of several sections: “Egemen Kazakstan”: from century to century”, “Egemen Kazakstan” and modern times”, “Egemen Kazakstan”: the tribune of the leaders”; “By the demand of the times”; “Egemen Kazakstan” – the herald of Independence”; “The National library of the RK upon the pages of “Egemen Kazakstan”.

In the first section of the exhibition “Egemen Kazakstan”: from century to century”  there are exhibited the official materials, the decrees about the newspaper, articles dedicated to the jubilees of the newspaper.

In the section “Egemen Kazakstan” and modern times” a prominent place is occupied by the photoarchives of the main newspaper, the editorial board, the workers of the typing-house etc.

In the section “Egemen Kazakstan”: the tribune of the leaders” there are widely highlighted and systematized the photographs, data about the life and activity of the editors-in-chief of the newspapers and their main works.

In the section “By the demand of the times” there is widely highlighted the history of the newspaper, which is kept in the fond of rare books and manuscripts of the National library of the RK. There are deposited in due order the newspapers “Ushkyn” (1919-1920), “Enbek tuy” (1919-1921), “Enbekshil kazak” (1921-1925), “Enbekshi kazak” (1925-1932), “Socialdy Kazakstan” (1932-1937), “Socialistyk Kazakstan” (1937-1945).

There are exhibited the materials published in these newspapers pertaining to the national issue, collectivization, people’s enlightenment, the years of the repressions , about the Great Patriotic war, the social issues, science, knowledge, culture.

In the main section “Egemen Kazakstan – the herald of Independence” there are exhibited the materials published upon the pages of the newspaper since the day of independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan: about the independence of Kazakhstan, about the economic, political, social, spiritual life of the people.

There are widely highlighted the themes: “The cultural heritage” Programme”, “The unity of the people”, “The international and inter-confessional concordance”, “The state language”, “The December events”, “Kazakhstan known to the whole world”, “The European relay race in Kazakhstan” etc.

In the section “The National library upon the pages of “Egemen Kazakstan” there are exhibited articles on librarianship, the National library of the RK and the workers of the library and also many bibliographical indices about the public and state figures who worked as chief editors of the newspaper.
